OBSESSED MOI!!.....Well perhaps a little......

Hello lovelies,
Well what a brilliant day..... temperature here reached a balmy 24 degrees and it is still 17 degrees in the shade of our back garden now at 10.00 pm.brilliant.....doesn't it make you feel better just that little burst of sunshine. I hope you are all enjoying it too, and that it does last as forecast for a few days....

Now what do you think my title is about...can you guess...no not just car boots and antique fairs, but what I always seem to home in on..... Utility china.....
Having found another little collection on the first day of our holiday on the Isle of Wight (yes the post and pictures from that are coming!) I decided on washing and storing them away to just see how much I now own.....

It all started with a Johnson's Greydawn custard jug.......

Can you see my most prized possession the enormous water jug back left with the cream jug resting inside...(note must get DH to put some shelves in the cupboards of this dresser!), I have never seen another and it is quite beautiful!...

Although the steak plates look more like the much simpler 'cloud' design...(now being collected for my DD) they are the Greydawn and the serving dish and fruit/cereal bowls are Greendawn....

Some of my favourites are the Rosedawn which are few and far between, but those I have found have been beautiful shapes....

And finally my Isle of Wight haul....beautiful Goldendawn...2 sizes of dishes and 3 sizes of plates.... all in a hospice shop for the grand sum of £11.50 together with a gravy boat which is in the previous pictures....

Well we did a quick count up and counting tureens and lids as one item...ooh errrr.. there were 199 in the kitchen and nearly 300 in the dining room!!!.... You don't think I am going to land up on that hoarding program do you?

'cos of course that's not all I collect...there are the tin toys, the advertising  pottery, the homepride men.....talking of which these fell into my bag at a collectors fair at Deene Park last Sunday

together with this little chap who has now found a new home with my DD...

.you see I don't keep it all...well odd bits of it at least..... then there's the vintage sewing stuff....and the watercolours by Jason Partner....and...........................

I think its time to go now........ What are your obsessions and will you be joining me soon in needing an extension.....

Have a great week, we are off to Chelsea on Friday...the most wonderful Christmas present from DD her partner and children and we are so looking forward to it.  I have my camera charged and ready and extra batteries and so there will be lots and lots of piccies....

PS thanks for all the lovely comments on my last post, sorry I haven't answered them individually this time but have been a bit busy with some sewing for a special boys 1st Birthday. I did read them and am yet again surprised and pleased at what a lovely lot you are. xxx

  2. I agree with Koralee- always something new to collect...the trouble is I always find 2 items, spend ages looking for a 3rd and then go on to collcting something else! This means I have an awful lot of collections of...unmatching pairs!!

  4. I am with you on the dawn china. My favourite is greydawn.
As I have a very dear friend who tends to shout out "Oh this is lovely," whenever something catches her eye (and the price goes up accordingly), I have trained my husband in a more subtle approach. He saw some greydawn in a junk shop and pointed out "that blue stuff looks quite nice; what do you think, love?" I idly looked at it and asked the owner how much that blue china was. The owner sauntered up, explaining that all the landladies in our seaside town had it in the 50's and 60's "Blueda-" he said, picked a piece up, turned it over; "Greydawn". "Oh really?" I replied. The beautiful little tureen and lid was therefore £2, oh joy!
