OBSESSED MOI!!.....Well perhaps a little......

Hello lovelies,
Well what a brilliant day..... temperature here reached a balmy 24 degrees and it is still 17 degrees in the shade of our back garden now at 10.00 pm.brilliant.....doesn't it make you feel better just that little burst of sunshine. I hope you are all enjoying it too, and that it does last as forecast for a few days....

Now what do you think my title is about...can you guess...no not just car boots and antique fairs, but what I always seem to home in on..... Utility china.....
Having found another little collection on the first day of our holiday on the Isle of Wight (yes the post and pictures from that are coming!) I decided on washing and storing them away to just see how much I now own.....

It all started with a Johnson's Greydawn custard jug.......

Can you see my most prized possession the enormous water jug back left with the cream jug resting inside...(note must get DH to put some shelves in the cupboards of this dresser!), I have never seen another and it is quite beautiful!...

Although the steak plates look more like the much simpler 'cloud' design...(now being collected for my DD) they are the Greydawn and the serving dish and fruit/cereal bowls are Greendawn....

Some of my favourites are the Rosedawn which are few and far between, but those I have found have been beautiful shapes....

And finally my Isle of Wight haul....beautiful Goldendawn...2 sizes of dishes and 3 sizes of plates.... all in a hospice shop for the grand sum of £11.50 together with a gravy boat which is in the previous pictures....

Well we did a quick count up and counting tureens and lids as one item...ooh errrr.. there were 199 in the kitchen and nearly 300 in the dining room!!!.... You don't think I am going to land up on that hoarding program do you?

'cos of course that's not all I collect...there are the tin toys, the advertising  pottery, the homepride men.....talking of which these fell into my bag at a collectors fair at Deene Park last Sunday

together with this little chap who has now found a new home with my DD...

.you see I don't keep it all...well odd bits of it at least..... then there's the vintage sewing stuff....and the watercolours by Jason Partner....and...........................

I think its time to go now........ What are your obsessions and will you be joining me soon in needing an extension.....

Have a great week, we are off to Chelsea on Friday...the most wonderful Christmas present from DD her partner and children and we are so looking forward to it.  I have my camera charged and ready and extra batteries and so there will be lots and lots of piccies....

PS thanks for all the lovely comments on my last post, sorry I haven't answered them individually this time but have been a bit busy with some sewing for a special boys 1st Birthday. I did read them and am yet again surprised and pleased at what a lovely lot you are. xxx

RETURNING TO MY ROOTS...FINALLY

Well dear ladies
 This is it....
no more colours.....
no more hairdryer...
no more heated brush...
just mousse and a flick through with my fingers..........
just as nature intended......

And do you know I kind of like it.......showered, hair washed, make up on, ready and out in 20 minutes...

Anyhow in my last post I told you about Charlie's Iggle Piggle blanket and promised a peek if it wasn't a disaster...well it was only a small one so here he is.......

If you do any machine embroidery you will realise I should have used some soluble stabiliser over Iggle Piggle to stop the thread sinking so far into the fabric...it spoils the colour a bit as you can see tiny tufts of fleece showing through. My stippling around the edge to keep the fleece better attached to the lining also leaves a bit to be desired, but as this was a first attempt its not too bad. Need to check the tension next time.

I almost forgot the Ninky Nonk, not totally successful but recognisable anyway!!

All I have to do now is the blue blanket stitch around the edge which could take me some time. I don't think Charlie will be too critical though ...and it is snuggly!

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON.....?

Can it be a whole month since I last wrote a post. I was so diligent when I first started this blog and though I certainly haven't lost my enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoy reading other posts I do seem to find less and less time to actually write. And as you will know I am not usually lost for words!!

Any way I am just sorting out my pictures from the most enjoyable holiday on the Isle of Wight which I will share with you soon, so thought I would break my silence and show you a few bits I have been doing recently.

I am a subscriber to Molly Makes and though I do not love everything about the magazine occasionally something just hits the right spot. Well the recent article on needle felted 'Petite Pooches' created by Gretel Parker did just that!

My first attempt was OK though he turned out about twice the size he should.....

I gave him to my DD who didn't seem to mind his size....

My second attempt was a little nearer the original I think.....

I just love him and have called him Claude..... just one of those silly little things that I really enjoyed making....what about you...do you just go off on a tangent when something catches your imagination or are you a one craft being and stick to that.........?

As well as these little things I have made more slippers, some for my grandson...

and a pair for a darling little little baby whose path in life is not going to be the easiest....

His were named but these are the same design......

Well now I am off to make an Iggle Piggle blanket for Charlie. He has a little 'In the Night Garden' book with Iggle Piggle in and he is so attached to it I decided to make him his own comforter. I have therefore scanned a picture of Iggle Piggle, converted it to embroidery and am about to see if it works out OK....I will show you the result later (that's if it's not a disaster)

Have a good rest of the weekend and I hope the weather next week is a little kinder to everyone, though I have to say this weekend here has been a great improvement.
